Sowing Hope: Bridging the Gap
Ceres is experiencing funding cuts due to federal policy changes, most notably the H.R.1 bill and related cuts to Medicaid. Our clients shouldn’t suffer due to shifting political priorities in Washington. But together, we can raise $25,000 to fund over 1,700 meals.
Donate now and your gift will be doubled thanks to Oliver's Market!
Over the past 15 months, like many other nonprofits, we’ve been impacted by the fallout from the passage of House Resolution 1. Also known as One Big Beautiful Bill, the funding cuts to vital human service programs have led to the most challenging financial circumstances we’ve ever faced - and the impact to our clients is severe.
Take for instance Alberto, who is a 71-year-old Latinx man living on less than $30,000 annually. He has coronary artery disease, including a prior heart attack and stent, along with poorly controlled Type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. This combination puts him at high risk for another cardiac event.
Despite medication, his blood sugar and blood pressure remain elevated, and he’s had multiple emergency department visits. Complicating his care, he’s managing with a single kidney after cancer, increasing the stakes of uncontrolled hypertension and diabetes.
Medically tailored, heart-healthy meals would help stabilize his conditions, reduce his ED and hospital visits, and prevent further strain on his heart and kidney. Unfortunately, his insurance plan denied treatment with medically tailored meals.
It is up to us to continue saying "yes" to clients like Alberto, despite funding cuts from our partners. Help us by donating today, and your gift will be matched up to $25,000.
